The Meany/Simmons Flute and Classical Guitar Duo

Tom Meany, flute and Michael Simmons, classical guitar have performed throughout the Philadelphia area since they first joined forces in 1990. Their repertoire is comprised of music from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic periods as well as a selection of contemporary works.

The duo’s debut CD features the music of Handel, Faure, Villa-Lobos, Piazzolla and others. Copies of our CD are available for sale on this site. We are also featured with Irish singer Sarah Agnew on the CD “The Old Man.”

Concert programs are tailored to fit the presenter’s interest. The duo is committed to bringing a variety of musical styles to its audience and often includes informal in-concert discussions as part of its presentation.

The duo has performed in recital for the Church of the Holy Trinity on Rittenhouse Square, the Chalfonte Hotel in Cape May, the Trinity Center for Urban Life, the Mt. Laurel Library’s 2nd Sundays Concert Series, the Arts at St. John, the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society, the Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia, the Bucks County Performing Arts Center and the Commonwealth Plaza at the Kimmel Center. The Meany/Simmons Flute and Classical Guitar Duo have also been heard on Temple University’s WRTI Radio, WGLS Radio at Rowan University and WXPN Radio of the University of Pennsylvania.
